Mazda MX5 gets a folding hardtop

When folding hardtop convertibles like the Lexus SC 430, upcoming VW Eos and Volvo C70 hit the scene, Mazda started worrying about the MX-5 being competitive in the market. Enter the Mazda MX5 Hardtop, on schedule to be an available option for the 2007 model. The MX-5 Hardtop is Mazda’s answer to the growing number of consumers who prefer the comfort and quiet of a hardtop convertible over a traditional ragtop. No other changes to the body are likely, which means the top will add some weight. Expect to see this model available for an additional $2-$3K on top of the base MX-5 price.
