Today I got my fish for the aquarium we started. We picked up a shark and an angelfish to start off. For their size, we can probably fit another 2 fish in our 10 gallon aquarium. It is pretty cool to watch them, eat and swim. The girl at the store told us they are both aggressive types and will do well together. But after reading more on the net, it's not the best of relationships. They won't fight each other, but more scare each other with their ways. The shark likes to swim fast but has poor eyesite. So he kind of scares the angelfish to a corner, where it's peaceful. I'll keep an eye on them and see how it goes. It's only the first day.

Back home

We had a great trip to Vernon. It rained all the way up, so we didn't experience the views as we should have on a clear, sunny day. Vernon is small, but not too small about 35,000 people. Kelowna is bigger and is next door, about a 30 - 45 minute drive. We did see our share of car accidents driving up and coming home. Which added time to the road trip. A full tank of diesel took us there and back which was nice, about $40 to fill the tank. We visited our friends and checked out Vernon. Kal Lake is very beautiful, the water looks the same as if you were in the Caribbean. Very clean and amazing colors. It was hard to imagine that in the winter, there is alot of snow and everything is covered. We both noticed how quiet it was too. We were about 10 minutes away from downtown and up on the hill, the views were amazing. I'll post some photos later and you can view them at

Eminem to hang up mike

Good news today! Eminem is retiring. Another corporate urban idea dead. If Vanilla Ice couldn't do it, we don't need white rappers pretending to be hard.

Weeks of rumors about this wedding, we finally see some truth. Jesse James tied the knot again with Sandra Bullock.

PSP crazy

Seems this guy can't get enough playing with his Sony PSP. I'm thinking this guy won't live too long riding a motorcycle and playing with the PSP!

Questionable content in GTA

Best-selling game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is being investigated in the US over reports that it contains sexually explicit mini-games hidden in its code.

I'm not surprised by this story at all. I wonder how many other games have similar hidden content that we don't know about. Read here.

Jet piece falls during Indy flyby

"Canadian Forces officials are trying to figure out what caused a metre-long part to fall off a fighter jet during a flyby in Toronto on Sunday." Yes, you read that CBC quote right. Luckily the door fell in to Lake Ontario and not on the spectators! Read here.

Lil' Kim to serve prison sentence

Alot of people are surprised at the sentence since we all remember Martha Stewart had less time for a similar offense. She will serve a year and a day in prison starting September 19. The complete story is at MTV.

Steve Jobs calls family of teenager killed for iPod

This past week a 15 year old boy in New York was stabbed in the chest twice for his iPod. Steve Jobs called the boy's father to let him know if there's anything he can do, to ask him. For those of you who have children with iPods (or carry anything expensive), please let them know to be careful when traveling. The first thing you should do, is buy new headphones that are not white. This has been the key that gives iPod owners away. SONY recently changed the color of their PSP headphones to black at retail stores. Perhaps due to the rise in theft and safety of their customers.

The complete story is here.

Wooden iPod

Ever seen a wooden iPod before? Story is the owner didn't like the glossy white finish, so he created a duplicate case in African Padauk. It is a high quality hardwood that is very easy to work with, and naturally red in colour.

Archive VHS to DVD

I found this interesting video on C|net about archiving your old VHS tapes to DVD. There are many benefits such as viewing your movies on any DVD player and long term storage. VHS tapes eventually lose their quality picture after each pass it is viewed. The video on the C|net isn't the only way, but it sure is the easiest.

War of the Worlds

My wife and I watched this movie yesterday and I can't recommend it. We enjoyed it until the end, when the aliens just started dying. If you haven't read the book, like us, we didn't know what happened. We assumed that the aliens started to die because of a virus in the human blood. They require humans blood to survive it appears, so they suck the humans up after capturing them. Of course, one horrible virus in the blood can kill a human, so why not an alien.

The movie just is a whirlwind of action scenes from the beginning. Tom Cruise running around with the characters who play his children got abit annoying when his daughter kept screaming. I understand that most of us would be pissing our pants screaming watching the aliens destroy everything, but this girl was annoying. There are some scary moments, but we really never get to know the aliens and characters. The scene with Tim Robbins is just puzzling. I'm not sure if it was required. The movie is just another Hollywood mindless waste of money. Wait for the DVD.

With more people building home theatres in their home, it is becoming evident that less people are watching movies in the theatres. Even with blockbuster movies this year, the industry is still in a slope as reported in many news sites.
